Mechanical Engineer
(with DFM experience)
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer who is passionate about engineering and excited about working
in a dynamic R&D team environment. This position will require working broadly within the mechanical engineering discipline including concept
development, design, prototyping, testing and manufacturing. Following is further detail with regard to job responsibilities:
Experience in designing components and assemblies for high volume, low cost manufacturing.
Design knowledge in plastic part design and injection molding process.
Design knowledge in sheet metal part design and related tooling process.
Experience in converting prototype parts and assemblies to lower cost fabrication methods while maintaining
overall design intent, functionality, tolerances and robustness required.
Full understanding of datum structures, tolerance analysis and assembly stack-ups.
Developing multiple product concepts or improve existing products for the same customer product requirements
at the system/part/component level.
Developing innovative and robust mechanical solutions at the component/system assembly level of design using
kinematics principles for product design.
Developing solid models and layouts, selecting appropriate materials and processes, performing engineering FEA
analysis, generating production drawings and other related project tasks.
Turning product design concepts/solutions into manufacturable products using a variety of high-and-low volume
manufacturing processes.
Performing analysis of design reliability, serviceability and manufacturability.
Developing detailed CAD models and drawings using SolidWorks and potentially other CAD packages.
Building proof of concept models to verify designs.
Actively participate in project team environment, coordinating with other mechanical, electrical, software and
industrial engineers on detailed design work.
Working within budget and schedule parameters under the direction of Engineering Management.
Participating in design reviews and clearly articulating design concepts.
Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with co-workers and clients.
Experienced in writing requirements and specification documents.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly document all work and communicate technical
ideas.
Passion for high quality engineering.
Requirements:
Masters or /Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
3+ years of industry experience in product and/or equipment development.
Experience in plastic part design, materials and injection molding process.
Experience in sheet metal part design, materials and related tooling processes.
Extensive travel to the United States will be required with the potential for occasional extended stays for
collaboration with the D&K Engineering team.
Fluency in spoken and written English
